The collaboration of bionic pop artist Viktoria Modesta and Katie McIntyre resulted in groundbreaking campaigns that catalyze fresh research within the Space Industry and ignite dialogues encompassing fashion, femininity, and visual effects (VFX). Modesta's artistic ethos, characterized as post-human and post-disability, merges visual and performance art with technology, science, and medicine, redefining notions of femininity and shifting societal perceptions.
McIntyre assumes the role of creative director, steering the campaign's direction and crafting couture designs for the zero gravity performance suit in collaboration with virtual fashion company Dress X. Furthermore, she orchestrates a captivating gallery demonstration utilizing cutting-edge portal technology at the Los Angeles Science Center during Yuri’s Night. McIntyre's zero gravity performance suits represent a pioneering leap in fashion for zero gravity flights, featuring innovative details like a vulva-shaped rocket pouch for menstruation products and digital performance fabrics.
Inspired by NASA's outdated space suits, which fail to accommodate the unique needs of menstruation, McIntyre embarks on a mission to empower women in space exploration. Her quest leads to the creation of fashion-forward attire suitable for interstellar journeys.
